How to Sell Your Old Designer Handbag

designer bag If you fancy purchasing something new then you may be considering selling your old designer handbag. This is a great idea because it means that you can recoup some of your money spent on the original bag and put it towards the next new, or "new to you" designer handbag. Selling a designer handbag can take a bit of effort; especially if you want to be sure of getting the best price. What follows are just a few ideas for how you can make this type of sale.

  • You have to decide if you want to sell to a shop or other designer handbag business or if you want to sell the bag directly to an individual. If you cut out the middleman then you are likely to get more money, but it is probably going to involve a lot more work to sell the bag. If your thinking about selling somewhere like a consignment shop or second-hand shop, etc. these places are somewhat different. Some places will buy it off of you then and there, and some will want to sell it then at the sell take a percentage of the total price. Depending on where you are located you can always call or stop in and inquire about the shops terms.
  • In order to discover the amount of money you can expect for your bag you should do a bit of research first of all. A great resource for this will be eBay. Search for bags similar to the one you are selling and see how much other people are getting (also search the "completed listings" to see what actually sold at the price the seller was asking for).
  • If you are going to sell the bag yourself you will need to photograph it and write a classified ad. You can then use this in places like Craigslist (..in my experience write "FIRM" in your post and stick with a anonymous email so that your not bothered by a wave of "I'll give you next to nothing". Also do not respond to any "fishy", unclear emails it's most likely its a scam.), also post anywhere else that accepts classified ads. Depending on your location you could try sticking up a few posters in your neighborhood's coffee shops or local bulletin board's.
  • If you intend to sell your bag on eBay you need to be aware that it can be time consuming if you are a first time seller. This is because you do not have any reputation as a seller and therefore customers may not trust you, but then again everybody starts at some point. You could write a clear professional ad, take a few nice representative photos and say in your ad that you are new to ebay, and willing to answer any questions the potential buyer may have. My first ebay sale I included free shipping. Also note, ebay has listing fee's, I have paid anywhere from $6 to $12 dollars (and included it in my selling price) the listing prices will change so check into it. Happy selling.
