It's true and confirmed – women do carry everything except the kitchen sink in their handbags. Most men have wondered what their other half could possibly be carrying in their handbag, especially over the last few years when handbags have been more like suitcases than anything else. Even with these over sized handbags, women still seem to be able to fill them up and a recent survey has found a host of strange items being carried around by women.

Some of the stranger items that were found in the bottom of the handbags of those who took part in the survey included sex toys, voodoo dolls, screwdrivers and a tuning fork for a piano. These odd items were sitting among a host of more common items such as makeup, deodorant, keys, purses, hairspray, medication, and diaries.

The survey was carried out by Kellogg’s Special K (Mini Breaks) and it found that there were a number of other strange items lurking at the bottom of our handbags. Examples of these included dog biscuits, spare underwear, tarot cards, porn DVDs and a baby tooth.

It was discovered that there are many women out there who carry around an item of sentimental value such as a lock of their child’s hair, a piece of jewelry belonging to a dead relative or the first shoe of their child.

Many romantic mementoes are also buried at the bottom of some people’s handbags. The survey found that some people were carrying around items such as pebbles from a beach, corks from champagne bottles or confetti from the day of their wedding.

Of those surveyed, twenty percent said they used their oversize handbags as a shield when they were having a ‘fat day’. Twenty one percent said that they found it the ultimate flattery to be complimented on their handbag with thirty three percent admitting that they always look at other women’s handbags.
